Ann et Vin was inspired and started by Ann Hayes who worked in the wine trade for over 40 years, beginning her career with John Townend and Sons of Hull in 1983. Ann took great delight in personally choosing all of the wines that she would sell in the shop, and are still available within our vast range of wines today. Modestly, Ann said ‘she does not consider herself a wine expert, but certainly knows more than the ‘average person on the street’. She has a fabulous ‘wine memory’ and can still recall the taste of wines that she tried more than 20 years ago!
After 20 years of Ann et Vin, Ann decided to hang up her Wine glasses and retire, handing the reins over to Chantelle who manages the shop, closeley supported by Simon, Donna and David.
We are still in close contact with Ann to use her vast wine knowledge.
We combine a ‘commercial palate’ with good retail acumen and try to understand exactly what customers want from a particular wine.
We will never baffle you with ‘wine speak’, we just want more people to discover and experience some new wines. “Everyone’s palate is completely different and we don’t expect everyone to like the same wines. But we love being able to challenge people’s perceptions with our wine choices for them.”
